Obituary for Anicet Mundundu

Dr Anicet M. Mundundu, 62, of Pittsburgh, PA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 25, 2020 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born in Vanga, Bandundu province, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) on January 8, 1958. His father was a very popular folk music artist, and not surprisingly, music ran in the family. Anicet spent most of his youth in Kikwit and Kinshasa (DR Congo), graduating with Distinction from the National Institute of Arts (INA) in Kinshasa. He subsequently worked as a teaching and research assistant at this college, before moving to the USA to pursue graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he later graduated with a doctorate degree in music. Upon graduation, Anicet taught music and worked as a recording studio engineer at Upitt.  A highly gifted musician, Anicet has distinguished himself in performing, recording and publishing Gospel music both in the USA and Africa. A very hardworking, dependable, committed and a multi-talented individual full of kindness and humility, Anicet will be greatly missed. Anicet is survived by his dear wife, Ruth Mundundu, his mother, Bernadette Misamu , his son Anicet Mundundu, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, his cousins Adolphe … and Dr Jesse Manunga, Marie Manga, Claudine … and his friends.
