Obituary for Antonio "boogie" Barnes

Antonio "Boogie" Barnes Sr., age 42, of Erie, Pa. passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020 at AHN St. Vincent in Erie.

Antonio was born on Sept. 22, 1978 in Laurel, MS. to his beloved parents Stella Barnes-Mason of Elmwood Park, NJ. and James Troy Wolverton Sr. of Laurel, MS.
Antonio moved to Erie at the age of 12 and grew up on the lower eastside (Tacoma Road).
After attending East High School, he began his entrepreneurship, providing jobs for local barbers. He was the owner of Aj's Barbering where he took great pride in satisfying others around him.

Antonio enjoyed playing chess and watching underground rap battles on YouTube. He was a pilar in the local community, mentoring youth throughout the city with a strong passion for youth football.
His most precious moments were spent with his family. He loved cheering for his children during their athletic events and committed himself to make every game.

Antonio was a gentle giant with a heart of gold that touched so many lives, he will be deeply missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Christmas Barnes; paternal grandfather, James Wolverton; uncle, Gregory Wolverton; niece, Ava Denee Barnes and cousin, Anthony "Snoopy" Barnes Sr.
In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Cathy Taylor of Erie, Pa.; children, Yolanda "Precious" Barnes, Antonio "Jizzle" Barnes Jr. and Deazhane "Butter" Reid all of Erie, Pa.; siblings, Cory Barnes Sr. of Erie, Pa., James Troy Wolverton Jr., Keona Wolverton and Brittney Ellis all of Laurel, MS.; maternal grandmother, Doris Barnes-Phillips; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Wolverton with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
