Obituary for Betty Watson (Barnett)

Betty Jewel Watson, age 77 of Erie, PA transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Betty was born in Soso, Mississippi, September 30,1944 to her beloved parents the late Thomas and Verlee Knight. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two grandchildren Scott Williams and William (Scooter) Allen, two sisters Dorothy Hull and Helen Strickland, five brothers Walter Knight, Willie Knight, William Esters, Donnie Esters, and Danny Esters.
Betty graduated from East High School in 1963. Later she became an entrepreneur in the healthcare industry. She enjoyed life and had a flair for style. She loved shopping, cooking (famous for her banana pudding), decorating in her home and for events. She was best known for her love, kindness, and generosity toward her family, friends, and the community because she always made time to help people when needed. Her active participation and contributions as a Trustee and as Culinary Lead at First Good Samaritan AME Zion Church didn’t go unnoticed. She was always praised for her time and efforts.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her husband George Watson, two sons Thomas Allen (Kayla) and Michael Allen (Tammy), and stepdaughter Stacey Watson-Crenshaw (Ricky), four sisters Deborah Roberson, Graci Darby, Wille Wilcox, and Geraldine Hathaway, three brothers Jessie Ward, Dwight Esters, and James Knight. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Terricca Hall (Caprice), Janelle Allen, Ashley Tate, Thomas C. Allen, Paige Williams, Tyler Allen, Ricky (Luz)Crenshaw, Jr., and Michael Crenshaw and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A public viewing will be held at the First Good Samaritan A.M.E. Zion Church 3209 Pennsylvania Ave. Erie, Pa. 16504 on Tuesday May 10,2022 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of her celebration of life service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Alonzo Smith Eulogizing. Interment will be held at Erie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to House of Paradise Cremation & Funeral Services Inc.
