Obituary for Jamil Grandberry Jr.

Jamil Marrice Grandberry Jr., age 22, departed this earthly life on Friday, March 26, 2021 in Erie, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Erie, at Metro Hospital, on December 19, 1998, to his beloved parents Sharon Page Collier and Jamil Grandberry Sr.

Jamil graduated from Strong Vincent High School class of 2017 as the class valedictorian, with high honors. He was astute and accomplished while in school and became senior class president. Jamil went on to further his education at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.

While in school, Jamil played several sports to include, football, basketball, lacrosse and also a track runner. He was very athletic and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Jamil loved to share his wonderful sense of humor and a smile that could brighten up any room. He had such a leading and selfless personality and took great pride in providing for his siblings. One of the oldest of twenty-two siblings, he became affectionately known as the family's protector. Always making sure everyone was good. He was most recently employed as a Direct Support Professional at Erie Homes for Children and Adults.

Jamil was a great son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend that will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles Grandberry.
