Monique Marie Lockett, 52, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly in her residence on Friday, December 18, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Monique was the eldest born to the late Jesse D. Lockett and Dorothy Keys Lockett, on October 19, 1968 in Erie, Pa. After graduating from East High School she went on to further her education at Mercyhurst University. In 1991 she began working for the PA. Dept. of Labor & Industry as an interviewer. After 14 years of service she retired and began her entrepreneurship as a car dealer, property manager and many other successful ventures.
Monique was an enterprising businesswoman, with a passion to live an enriching life.
She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church but in her youth she attended Second Baptist Church where her late great-grandmother, Etta Keys and her uncle the late Rev. Perry Keys Sr. were charter members.
Monique loved to shop and travel but her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren. She was a kind woman with a loving spirit and will be deeply missed by all.
She leaves to cherish her legacy; her leading lady, daughter Sylvia Cooley; sons, David Lockett and Kyle Lockett, all of Erie, Pa.; grandchildren, Kyle and Zayyir Lockett, Sariyah and Brandon Cooley & Lailah Ellis; siblings, Jesse Lockett (Ricardo) of Erie, Pa., Danielle Lockett of Arizona, Marc Lockett of Virginia; her children's step-father, Anthony Billinger, life long friend Sylvester Cooley, best friend Rewa Cattledge, close cousins Tina Graham and Cassandra Crockett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Lockett-Cooley family wishes to extend their gratitude to The LECOM Visiting Nurse Association, and a very special thank you to Dr. Holly Bean and Dr. Jon Izbicki.
