Obituary for Richard Williams

Richard L. Williams, 85 of Martinsburg, WV (formerly Erie, PA) made his Heavenly transition on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1937, in Potter County Pennsylvania to the late James Franklin Williams and Reva Genevieve (Abbot) Williams. He attended school in Harrison Valley, Pennsylvania. He then began his 27-year career at Eberle Tanning Company in Westfield, PA. In 1983 Richard moved to Erie, Pennsylvania and worked for Plastek industries until retiring in 1996.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an exceptional provider and support for his family. Richard was inseparable from his family and his two dogs Pooka and Duchess. Richard enjoyed attending car shows and sporting events for his grandchildren. He had a love for cars, fishing, woodworking, and being outdoors. He loved to sit and smoke his cigars while talking with his kids and grandchildren.
Joined by his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Mable Williams, and a brother Terry Williams.
He is survived by his five children, Duane (Doris) Williams of Rexville, NY, Russell (Bonita) Williams of Troupsburg, NY, Ethel (Mike) Zeller of Gaines, PA, Connie Williams of Martinsburg, WV and Amber Williams of Erie, PA. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren including eight that he raised. Allen Horton of Pittsburgh Pa, Nicholas (Bryanna) Pickens of Martinsburg, WV, Mark Harper of Erie, PA, Michael (Angelina) Harper of Erie, PA, Somia Williams of Erie, PA, Saday, Maliyah, and Izayiah Williams of Martinsburg, WV and 15 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Joyce Brown and Sharon Freeborn of Harrison Valley, PA. Richard also loved his godchildren James (JC) Hunter, Jessica Martinez, and Jaheim Everage, and his many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday April 1st from 10am to 12pm at Word of Life International 660 Hess Avenue Erie, PA 16507 followed by the service at noon. Professional Services entrusted to House of Paradise Cremation and Funeral Home 701 East Ave 16503.
