Obituary for Robert Strickland

Robert Lee Strickland Sr, age 97, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Lecom at Village Square, LLC in Erie.
He was born in Ellisville, Mississippi on October 22, 1923 to his beloved parents, Lela Bishop Strickland, and the late Willie Lee Strickland.
During his youth years, Robert relocated to Erie in early 1951, with the love of his life Annie Ruth Whigham Strickland and their children for better work opportunities.
Robert held various jobs working as a caretaker at Zurns private Homes for many years. Robert was a jack of all trades and a true outdoorsman. He loved to work on cars and playing pool. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Cleveland Browns.
He was a trustee at Second Baptist Church and was saved under the leadership of the late Pastor Emeritus Allen B. Green.
Robert was an amazing father with a kind and gentle spirit and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Whigham Strickland. 4 siblings; Willietta Johnson, Albania Johnson, Lillie Mae Price and James Strickland Sr, a daughter Edna Strickland Odom, a son Willie Lee Strickland Sr, a grandson Gregory Copeland and great-grandson Delvon Strickland.
He leaves to cherish his memory: six children, Robert L. Strickland Jr, (Essie) of Detroit MI, Charles Strickland, Ruth Copeland McCullum, Douglas Strickland, Theresa Morgan (Willie) and Eula Strickland; 32 grandchildren and 30 plus great-grandchildren of Erie, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
