Sherman Lewis Thomas age 68, of Erie, PA. Passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, April 30,2023. Son of the late Rev. Hunter Thomas and Mother Samatha Newell Thomas. He was born in Erie on October 8,1954, and was a graduate of Academy High School in 1972. He also attended UCLA University in California. Sherman was very outgoing, socialable, family oriented and spiritual. He enjoyed traveling, singing, reading, computers and watching movies. One of his favorite sayings was you’re my Favorite” cousins. Sherman gave his life to Christ at a young age. He was a member of Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by both parents, maternal grandparents Robert and Hazel Newell and paternal grandparents Hunter and Linnie Howze Thomas. A host of deceased aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves "to" cherish and carry on his memories, son; Eric Lamar Thomas of Agoura Hills, CA. grandchildren; Marlee and Mason of Agoura Hills, CA. Sister; Belinda R (John) Allen of Gainesville, VA. Nephew John T. Allen of Gainsville, VA, God sisters; Irma (Odell) Graves and Kimberly (Virgil) Allen-Smith. Aunts; Hazel Jones, and Dessie Newell. A public viewing will be held at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church 2624 German Street Erie, PA 16504 on Saturday, May 13,2023 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of his celebration of life service at 12:00 p.m. with Bishop Jesse N. Gavin, Eulogizing. Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to House of Paradise Cremation & Funeral Services Inc.
