Obituary for Thomas Johnson

Thomas M. Johnson Sr. was born March 29, 1944 in Wilmington NC to the late Owen and Jennie Lee (Davis) Johnson. In 1950 the Johnson family moved to Philadelphia, PA. Thomas attended Frederick Douglas Elementary and attended Ben Franklin HS. Thomas joined the US Army and served two years at Ft Bragg NC in the 82nd Airborne unit where he was Airborne certified. He also served 6 years with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Tom was loved and adored by everyone he met and always had kind and encouraging words affectionately referred to himself as the Pucking Trooper because he would throw up on every jump. Thomas always had a kind word and encouragement to each and everyone he met. Thomas worked several jobs in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. His favorite and most memorable being Auto manufacturer for Volkswagen of America and Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Thomas is survived by his loving wife Joan Johnson of 45 years, whom he met in 1969 in Pittsburgh and married November 22, 1975 and his children; Tyrone A Bennett (Son)– Xavier Bennett (grandson),Morgan Zebbs (granddaughter), Ezekiel Bennett (Great Grandson), Spencer Zebbs (Great granddaughter), Vernet L. Johnson (daughter) – Jaune Johnson (grandson), Raekwon Johnson (grandson) Mya Johnson (granddaughter), Janaizha Johnson (great granddaughter), Thomas M. Johnson Jr – (son) – Thomas M Johnson III (grandson), Jasmine Johnson (granddaughter), Azira Johnson (Great granddaughter). Further survived by his siblings; Alfred L. Johnson Sr., Charles G. Johnson (deceased), Carolyn Perry. Visitation will be held at House of Paradise Cremation and Funeral Services, 608 E. Warrington Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15210, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 11am to 3pm with an Honor Guard service to commence at 2:30pm, The Celebration of Life will follow at 3pm.
